About BCG Technician Program
Students will learn about the importance of BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin) vaccines to prevent tuberculosis and other infectious diseases in this course.
At Era University, we meticulously train our BCG technicians to engage in the tuberculosis eradication program and educate people about the spread, prevention and drug regimen of TB. Students also learn to understand the role, maintenance and transportation (handling) of the vaccine, how to conduct investigations, chest x-ray and sputum examination.
Our classrooms are ‘intellectually active’ places where students are taught in a progressive learning environment which is highly-effective and conducive to student-centered learning.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
To ensure awareness of the vaccine and the immunization schedule
To acquire knowledge about sterilization, maintenance and transportation (handling) of vaccines
To develop skills to perform basic procedures like IV/IM/SC injections
To learn how to effectively maintain vaccination records
To be capable of providing counseling and psychological support to patient and relatives
COURSE OUTLINE
General anatomy, physiology, osteology, cytology, histology and basics of all organ systems
Tuberculosis incubation period, etiology, pathogens, clinical features, demography and epidemiology of tuberculosis and its natural history
Basics of relevant pathology, bacteria, immunization and its hazard
National program and policies on control of tuberculosis- lab network, DTP, DOT’S, BCG vaccine, route of administration of injection IV/IM/SC
TB Diagnosis - sputum examination, tuberculin test and other tests
TB Management – curative and preventive, drugs and their complications
HIV and tuberculosis coordination
Career
The pass outs of this diploma program are eligible to work in both government & private hospitals to educate and train people about TB immunization programs and vaccination schedules.
