The Department of Anesthesiology

Critical Care is actively involved in the undergraduate teaching in the form of lectures, interactive teaching, and evening teaching. Postgraduate teaching cum training is in the form of lectures, seminars by the residents, case presentations, journal clubs, dissertation projects, attendance at workshops, Continued Medical Education (CME's and conference (local, state and national).

Academic

The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine is actively involved in Undergraduate teaching is in the form of lectures, interactive teaching, evening teaching, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training on manikins and live demonstration of anesthetic techniques. The postgraduates are trained in various anesthetic procedures like airway management, vascular access, neuraxial blocks and catheterization, nerve blocks, invasive hemodynamic/neuromuscular monitoring.

Treatment Facilities

The Department of Anesthesiology has a significant role in surgeries. The department utilizes the most advanced equipment to cater to the varied requirements of patients undergoing various surgical procedures and treatment. The Anesthesiology team comprises of specialist doctors trained to address the issues of intensive care, acute and chronic pain, Regional Blocks under ultrasound guidance. A new set of three operation rooms solely dedicated to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology add up to the impressive tally of already existing ten fully equipped air-conditioned operation rooms with anesthesia workstations, multipara monitors in every OR.

The area of responsibility of the Department extends beyond the Operating Rooms to the provision of services involving life- saving maneuvers viz. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Critical Care and Pain Management Services. The ICU is well equipped with modern ventilators and high-end multichannel monitoring for the treatment of critically ill patients.

Research Activity

The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care is actively involved in research activities. There has been active participation in various conferences by faculty as speaker or chairperson and postgraduate students in the form of competitive paper presentation, poster presentation as well as quiz at the state level as well at national level. The research works of the faculty and postgraduate students have been appreciated and published in various national and international journals.
