Here is a detailed analysis of the topics asked in NMAT Exam-

Language Skills

This section tests your English proficiency, focusing on speed and accuracy. You have 28 minutes for 36 questions.

  • Reading Comprehension: 2–3 passages (approx. 400–500 words each) with questions on central themes, info-based facts, and inferences.
  • Vocabulary: Synonyms, Antonyms, Analogies, and Contextual word usage.
  • Grammar: Sentence Correction, Error Identification, Tenses, Prepositions, and Parts of Speech.
  • Verbal Ability: Para Jumbles (ordering sentences) and Cloze Tests.

Quantitative Skills:

  • This section covers mathematics up to the 10th-grade level but requires advanced application and speed. You have 52 minutes for 36 questions.
  • Arithmetic: Ratios & Proportions, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Work, and Time, Speed & Distance.
  • Algebra: Linear & Quadratic Equations, Inequalities, and Logarithms.
  • Modern Math: Permutations & Combinations, Probability, Set Theory, and Number Systems (HCF/LCM).
  • Geometry & Mensuration: Circles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, and 3D Figures (Cylinders, Cones, Spheres).
  • Data Interpretation (DI): Tables, Bar Graphs, Pie Charts, and Line Graphs (usually 2–3 sets).
  • Data Sufficiency: Determining if the given statements are enough to solve a math problem.

Logical Reasoning

This section evaluates your analytical and critical thinking abilities. You have 40 minutes for 36 questions.

  • Critical Reasoning: Statement-Assumption, Statement-Conclusion, Strengthening/Weakening Arguments, and Course of Action.
  • Analytical Reasoning: Linear and Circular Seating Arrangements, Complex Puzzles, and Matrix-based arrangements.
  • Verbal Reasoning: Syllogisms, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, and Input-Output.
  • Sequence & Series: Number and Letter Series, and Direction Sense.
