TN SET 2024 – Manonmaniam Sundaranar University invites online applications for Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TNSET) 2024 for the recruitment of Assistant Professor at various University / Colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu. Government of Tamil Nadu has nominated Manonmaniam Sundaranar University as “Nodal Agency” to conduct State Eligibility Test (SET) on its behalf. The exam will be conducted in 43 subjects. Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- There is no upper age limit for applying for TNSET 2021 examination
Educational Qualification
- Candidates who secured minimum 55% in Post-Graduation in given 26 disciplines can apply for this exam
- 5% relaxation in minimum marks will be given for SC, ST, OBC, PwD candidates.
- PhD candidate’s who got masters degree before 19.09.1991 will get relaxation in marks from 55% to 50%.
- Candidates currently pursuiTANCETng their Master’s degree or equivalent course, or those who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination with pending results, or those whose qualifying examinations have been delayed, may also apply. However, such candidates will be provisionally admitted and considered eligible for the Assistant Professor role only after passing their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with the required percentage of marks.
- It is mandatory for such candidates to complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of TNSET result announcement; otherwise, they will be deemed ineligible. Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s Level examination was completed by 19 September 1991 (regardless of the result declaration date) are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (from 55% to 50%) for TNSET eligibility. Candidates are advised to choose the subject of their Post-Graduation for the TNSET exam.
- If their Post Graduation subject is not included in the list of TNSET subjects, they may opt for the UGC-NET/joint CSIR-UGC Test instead. Candidates holding a post-graduate diploma/certificate from an Indian University/Institute or a foreign degree/diploma/certificate from a foreign University/institute are advised to confirm the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with a Master’s degree from recognized Indian universities through the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiu.ac.in), for their own benefit.
TN SET 2024 Application Process
- Candidate seeking admission to the Test (TNSET-2024) must apply online only on the website http://www.tnsetau.in/
- Candidates must read carefully the Instructions (including how to fill up Application Form online) given in the Information Bulletin available in the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Website. Candidates not complying with the Instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
- Candidates can apply for TNSET 2024 through “Online” mode only. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted.

Follow the steps given below to Apply Online:
- Step-1: Apply for Online Registration using your own Email Id and Mobile No.
- Step-2: Fill in the Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application Number. Upload scanned images of:
- A recent passport size photo (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) in colour with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background;
- Candidate’s signature (file size: 4kb – 30kb)
- Step-3: Pay the examination fee using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI and keep proof of fee paid.
- The Confirmation Page of the online Application Form will be generated only after successful payment by the Candidate

Note : The Examination fee should be paid online via Debit card/Credit card / Net banking / UPI only. Examination Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Exam Pattern
- Mode of Exam: Will be conducted through the Offline Mode (Pen Paper Based)
- Question Types: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) Format
- Marking Scheme: For each correct answer, +2 Marks will be allotted
- Negative Marking: There is no Negative Marking Scheme
- Exam Medium: Question Paper will be in English and Tamil Language
- Sessions: There will be a total of three sessions.
- Papers: There will be a total of 2 Papers
- Paper I [100 marks; 50 questions all are compulsory; Duration 1 Hr 20 Min. (09.30 am to 10.30 am)]
- Paper II [200 marks; 50 questions all are compulsory; Duration 2 Hrs 40 Min. (11.00 am to 01.40 pm)]

Hall Ticket
It may be noted that the admission card will be uploaded on the website Official Website. No admission cards will be sent to the candidates by post. The candidates should download their admission cards from the website to ascertain their venue of the Test as mentioned in the Admission Card and appear in the examination only at the designated examination centre. No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination centre other than that allotted to him/her in the admission card.
- It may be noted that the Hall Ticket will be uploaded on the website. No Hall Ticket will be sent to the candidates by post.
