Department of Mechanical Engineering was established way back in the year 1968.

Mechanical Engineering Branch is started from the academic year 2010 -11 with sanctioned intake of 60 students. The Department has state of the art infrastructure and facilities. Well equipped laboratories and Workshop with various machines are the main features of the department.

Different Laboratories for the students of first year (all branches) are Heat Power Laboratory, Engineering Graphics Drawing Halls, Workshop and CADD center.

The Heat Power Laboratory is equipped with several cut models and charts. Cut-sectional engines of 4stroke Diesel engine, 4stroke and 2stroke petrol engines, various boiler mountings and accessories are used for better understanding of the practical. A number of charts are available to explain about the experiments. There are three Engineering Graphics laboratories for Engineering Graphics. Each laboratory is well furnished with adequate number of drawing boards.

Workshop includes: Fitting shop, Plumbing shop, Welding shop, Carpentry shop, Sheet metal shop, turning shop and cold forging shop. Each shop has the required machines and tools. Individual student gets the tools and equipments for completing the job work. Students complete the jobs under the guidance of well trained instructors. Lathes, Drilling machine, pedestal grinder, power hacksaw, bench vices are available in the workshop.

The department has a CADD center with desktop computers of latest configuration. Students are taught the basics of computer aided drafting in the CADD center as it is a part of their syllabus. The CADD center has Upgradeable licensed software of CADD. Presently Auto CAD-2007 software is used to train the students. Besides this, latest versions of Autodesk Inventor Professional, Autodesk Raster Design, Autodesk Electrical and Autodesk VIZ are available in the center.
