Department of Information Technology

The department of Information Technology was established in the year 1999 by offering a Bachelor Degree Course in Information Technology. The courses have been carefully designed to guide the student through basic concepts up to current practices in industry. Hands-on laboratory experience is emphasized at every stage of the program . The students are required to carry out industry internship in their last semester.

The program curriculum includes range of elective courses along with core courses. Core subjects like software engineering operating systems, computer network , knowledge systems (AI), Language translator(Compiler), DBMS, data structure, microprocessor architecture , Algorithm Analysis etc are covered along with courses like Java Technology , Web Technology, Distributed Computing, Neural Networks , E-Commerce E-Security etc ., which provide a domain capability to each student that allows him/her to have a meaningful career in industry and academics .

Facilities in the department include three well maintained computer laboratories with total 126 Pentium-IV computers. It also has a hardware laboratory to practically understand the concepts of Digital Circuits , Microprocessor and Computer Peripherals . It has dedicated 10 Mbps lease line for Internet access is sheared by all department. Also all the laboratories are interconnected through LINUX-based/Windows 2003-based Servers. All the laboratories have major required legal software like Oracle 10g Standard Edition, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005,Microsoft SQL , MS Visio, Red Hat Linux , Window server 2003 windows XP etc . Department is equipped with 2 LCD Projectors and 1 Laptop for audio-visual teaching aid.

Department has Rabbit RLM 3750 development kit with color touch screen kit, serial to Ethernet application kit, protected operating system development kit ,Embedded web application kit & GPRS/GSM application kit, keil PK51 professional Development kit including MCB51 and MCB517AC Evaluation boards.

Nearly all the eligible students get placed in companies. List of recruiters include software giants like TCS, PCS, Infosys, Cybage, Argu Soft, Tech Mahindra, Satyam, e-Infochip, Hellios, Samyak Infotech , and many more..

The department coordinates a College to Career(C2C) program conducted by DTE, Government of Gujarat where TCS and Microsoft are involved. This provides opportunity to the students to get value added certification from well known software giants TCS and Microsoft. Department has established CISCO Regional Local Academy Center which conducts CCNA exploration course for students to get expertise in the field of networking and get an opportunity to get value added certificate from CISCO.

The department is actively involved to support the “Infosys Campus Connect” program. The program develops the problem solving skill in the students. Department encourages the faculty members to go for higher study. Currently two faculty members are pursing PhD and two are pursing M.Tech. program. In the last two years, 12 papers have been published in National/International journals/conferences by the faculty members.

Faculties are invited as expert reviewer in national and international conferences/journals. Also faculty members are invited to deliver expert lectures at different places.

Department organizes many programs to provide Services to Community. It also helps the under privileged section of the society by conducting computer classes.. Also the department regularly conducts Networking and Hardware Maintenance workshop for ITI Students.
