The Institute for the physically handicapped came into existence as an autonomous body in 1915. The Institute was registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 and has been running under the administrative and financial control of ministry of welfare. It is affiliated to Delhi University Infrastructural Facilities Limited hostel facilities for outstation students.
The main aims and objectives of the Institute are to develop manpower in the field of rehabilitation and also to serve the orthopedically handicapped of all age groups.
