The Department of Biotechnology is established in the year 2004 with a mission to create fusion of engineering and life sciences that promotes scientific discovery and development of new technologies through research and education. The focus of the department is on basic research in modern biotechnology, molecular basis of life processes and bioinformatics. The department admits students for Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) in Biotechnology. A new Master of Technology (M. Tech.) in Bioinformatics has been started from the session 2010-2011. Besides basic and engineering sciences, the curriculum covers various subjects of Biotechnology.
