Course Details:

Ph.D Physics - To enable faculty to judge a student’s ability to carry out research at the level required for the completion of a PhD, to allow a student to explore in a preliminary way a research field and a possible thesis topic, to allow a student and faculty member to test a working relationship; and to test the student’s breadth of knowledge, awareness of the literature, and understanding of the relationships of the research to other fields of physics. Successful completion of the oral exam is the crucial first step in beginning a research career in physics.
