The course explores the importance of the visual images in communicating ideas and information. The student will learn to recognize quality photographs, both technically and aesthetically, and will learn to make, manage and edit photographs with digital cameras, media, computers, and software. The student will be exposed to the ethics of using images for news and editorial purposes, and in the process will learn to become conversant with photographic terminology through the critique process. Although the focus of this course is to develop a student’s skills as a photojournalist, it is useful in other areas of Print communication as well - journalism, graphic designing and new media communication. It even builds a foundation for a future career in photography.
