Manufacturing engineering trains a student to understand the process of manufacturing from conceptualising to packing and hence delivering a finished product in a marketable form. The course also teaches students to handle machines involved in the process of converting raw materials into a brand new product.
A student of this discipline also learns to rationalize production cost in a manner so as to increase the return on investment and hence making the product cost effective.A graduate of this stream is hired by almost all fields involved in producing goods. Industries in the domain of electronics, automobiles, healthcare, eductaion, food, clothing, all hire manufacturing engineers to deliver cost effective goods.
Some of the electives include: Instrumentation and Control, Design of Machines Tools, Mechanical Engineering Design, Maintenance and Safety, Automotive Systems, Mechanical Vibrations and Acoustics, Manufacturing Excellence, Noise Engineering, Work System Design, Internal Combustion Engines, Lean Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Quality Control Assurance and Reliability, Advances in Materials Science, Industrial Relations, Precision Engineering, Product Design and Development, Product Designand Development Projects, Project Appraisal and Special Projects.
