Eligibility:

Diploma ( Mechanical / Electrical / Shipbuilding / Marine Engineering ) withminimum 50% mark in aggregate of all the semesters from an AICTE approved Institution.
* Age not exceeding 28 years on 02nd December, of the year of admission.
* Minimum 50% marks in English in Std. X or XII or Comm Skill I & II in Diploma.
* 6/6 or 6/12 in each eye or 6/18 in one eye and 6/9 in the better eye. Normal colour vision (tested by Ishihara test chart ) and no colour blindness.

The syllabus for the course is based on requirements of the convention of International Maritime Organization ( IMO) on Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping ( STCW), 1995 and Merchant Shipping (STCW) Rules, 1998.

Career Prospects:
Successful students will have to pass M.EO. Class IV Part A Examination conducted by Mercantile Marine Dept. Govt. of India and after passing the same will be eligible for appointment as Junior Engineers on board merchant ships. Candidate will rise to the position of the Chief Engineer within 5 to 6 years on passing further examinations.
