    Department Of Mathematics

    Basaveshwar Science College was started by the B.V.V. Sangha, Bagalkot in June 1945. The Basaveshwar Science College has the distinction of being the first college to have commenced functioning in the former Bijapur district which included Bagalkot.

    Shri.Moghe, the first lecturer in the Mathematics department served for a short period and he was succeeded by Mr. Brahmanda Rao who also left. In June 1946, Shri.R.Gopalan, an M.A.First Class, Distinction of the Madras University joined as lecturer in the Mathematics Department. Prof. R.Gopalan served as the Head of the Mathematics department for 34 year (1946-1980). With the introduction of degree classes in June 1955, a second lecturer shri.D.R.Hardi was appointed increase in the strength of degree classes and bifurcation of the college necessitated appointment of more lecturers.

    Prof.Shetty worked for a short period. Later Prof.S.B.Tippa (1960-1995), Prof. M.C.Inglagavi (1967-1997) and Prof. T.B.chilakwad (1969-1998) joined the Department prof.R.Gopalan was retired on March 1980. After retirement of prof. R.Gopalan, Prof. S.B. Tippa become a HOD of Mathematics and he has played vital role in the development and strengthening the department, then he promoted as a principal in the year 1989 and worked in the college till their retirement.

    Then prof. M.C.Inglagavi become HOD of the deparment and he also promoted as a principal and work in the college till their retirement . then prof. T.B.chilakwad handle the department and he also promoted as a principal and worked in the college till their retirement .

    Shri S.A.Bhusanurmath was appointed as a stop- Gap Lecturer from August 1986 to January 1992 and from the date 29-01-1992 regularized the service also he is working as a HOD of Mathematics Department from 1997. Shri S.G.Biradar was appointed as a Stop-Gap Lecturer from 1989 (Sept) to 1998 (July) and from the date 5-6-1998 regularized the service. Shri S.B.Bhandari was appointed as a Stop-Gap Lecturer from 1991 to 2003 (November) and form the date 4-11-2003 regularized the service Shri Y.B.Revadagundi, Shri M.S.Ijeri, Shri B.C. Balaganurmath was appointed as a part-time lecturer from the date 1-7-1994, 1-7-1996 and 15-7-2001 respectively Miss. I.M.Kadakol appointed as a part time Lecturer from the July 2007 and Smt. V.C.
