MECHANICAL ENGINEERING Mechanical engineering department of SIEM has developed to a full-fledged &perfect shape over a record short period. At present we have six numbers of well qualified and experienced Asst. Professors, two Asst. Engineers and adequate number of Technical Assts. &other supporting staff for the workshop under a highly experienced & well qualified Senior Foreman. We have big engineering/drafting halls with all appliances &modern facilities like CAD/CAM/PRO-E etc to facilitate complex design/drawing work under the guidance of experienced faculties. Workshops and laboratories constitute the most essential elements of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and here at SIEM we have the following well equipped shops/labs to cater to the requirements: Machine Shop Fitting, Carpentry & Pattern Shop Welding Shop Thermal Power Engineering Lab Strength of Materials Lab Fluid Mechanics & Fluid Machinery Lab Manufacturing Lab Measuring Instruments Lab Foundry & Forging Lab Heat Transfer Lab We arrange regular visits to various mechanical works and full-fledged four weeks on- hand industrial training at the end of the fourth semester to impart a feel of actual mechanical work to students. Our institute provides ideal environment, facilities & infrastructures for the students of Mechanical discipline. Advantages:- 1) Arrangement of CAD, CAM, Pro-E and Catia for faculty, staff and students. 2) Industrial Training for Students at different Govt. and Private Sector Industries like- Gun & Shell Factory Cossipore, Rifle Factory Ichhapur, NTPC, Bharat Wagon, DVC, SAIL, Kolkata Port Trust, IOCL, NFR etc.
