Department of Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1979 with the present intake of 120 and Post-Graduate in Design Engineering was established in 1995 with present intake of 25.
Prof. S.C. Pilli is Principal of our Institution. He was Awarded as “Best Engineer – 2008” by Institution of Engineers, Belgaum Local Center.
The Department has well equipped and furnished Laboratories worth of Rs. 80.00 Lakhs. The Department has received the Grants Rs. 25.00 Lakhs from the funding authorities like AICTE, MNES, etc. to establish the Laboratories with latest equipments in the field of CAD/CAM, Metrology, etc. The Department has established ENRGY-PARK funded by MNES, New-Delhi.
The Department has organized National Conferences / seminars, STTP Programs / National Level Paper Presentation activities. The staff has given Invited Guest Lectures.
The Department has established Computer Aided Engineering Lab for I/II Semester Students, worth of Rs. 35.00 Lakhs and it is appreciated by various authorities in particular VTU, Belgaum. And it is First of its Kind in Entire Karnataka State.
Achievements of the faculty members :
Prof. M.S.Sohania has been awarded Ph.D. in Kuvempu University
Prof. M.A. Kamoji has been awarded Ph.D.at IIT, Bombay
Prof. G.Ravindranath and Prof. B.S. Manjunath attended International Mechanical Congress & Exploration held at Seattle, USA in Nov., 2007 and presented a paper on “Experimental study of Heat Transfer between single horizontal bare tube and gas-solid fluidized bed” and “Body Force Method for Flamant Problem using Complex Potentials” respectively.
Prof. Santosh S. Patil has been awarded second rank to VTU in MTech Design Engg. Stream during April 2011.
Books were published by our Faculty Members.
11 papers were published in International / National Journals, many more papers were presented in National & International Conferences / Seminars by our faculty members.
