Department of Chemical Engineering The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in the year 1996 with an intake of 40 students. At present the intake is 30. The major laboratories of this Department are: Mechanical Operation Lab Momentum Transfer Lab Pollution Control & Instrumental Analysis Lab Mass Transfer Lab Process Control Lab Chemical Reaction Engineering Lab Process Heat Transfer Lab Computer Applications & Simulation Lab The major Equipment/Software and other facilities in the Department are Gas Chromatograph, Bubble Cap Distillation Column, Pressure & Level Controller Trainer, and Mineral Processing & Analysis Equipment, ChemCAD software, etc. The department is headed by Prof. P. G. Hegde. The Department has dedicated and experienced teaching and supporting staff. The Association of Chemical Engineers (ACES), the Department Association is active in conducting various technical activities like Industrail visits, Industrial tours, Quiz programs, aptitude tests, seminars on advanced topics, group discussions etc.. The Department extends additional library facility to all the students for reference books and technical journals. The department of chemical engineering is firm in its commitment to produce quality technocrats possessing necessary skills as the work place demands. Experienced and dedicated ten faculty members, imparting in depth understanding of basic principles, aided with well equipped laboratories, sophisticated equipments and simulation soft ware tools enable students to groom into a professionally competent chemical engineer Mentoring, counseling of students, Industrial visits and Industrial training for students are regular activities at department and have lead to better employability. Students have participated in various technical conferences and won prizes and student projects have also been sponsored by KSCST. Department is involved in consultancy. Alumni are placed in reputed organizations and their performance and contributions are appreciated by the employers. The faculty and students have participated in several exhibitions, organized state level seminars, National Level Paper presentation and published papers in International and National Journals The department has achieved 2 university ranks.
