TEXTILE & FASHION DESIGN A well tailored curriculum that focuses on imparting sound technical knowledge to the various aspects of Textile Designing and Fashion and also provides plenty of scope to explore the creative potential amongst fashion designer aspirants. LABORATORIES Practical elements of learning are crucial to perfect the art of textile design. The department is therefore equipped with ultra modern laboratories for each avenue of study. Separate laboratories for Dyeing printing, Textile Testing and Garment Construction have been built to enable students learn through practical oriented study. The laboratories are fully equipped with power operated machine and a CAD lab complete with textile & fashion designating application software. The laboratories are also furnished with fully automated machine to monitor fabric and fibre equality. INDUSTRIAL VISITS Industrial visits and exposures to happenings in the textile industry are regular part of the three-year programme. These include visits to the National Institute of Fashion technology at Tirupur and other renouned organizations in the knit city. Students are also taken to textile processing mills in Namakkal and other places of the state. SEMINARS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES Students of the programme get benefit from interactions with eminent designers and textile experts on a regular basis. These experiences make enable them to gain useful and practical insights in to the world of fashion and textile. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Job and career opportunities abounded for students with a creative inclination and those with a will to translate their imagination to fabric and apparel. With the increasing dominance of India in the global fashion ramp, it is expected that he textile and fashion design industry will open up a plethora of opportunities for students.
