🔍 Factors Influencing the 2026 Cutoff

  1. Exam Difficulty: If the 2026 paper is harder than 2025, the marks required for a specific rank will drop, but the closing ranks themselves usually remain relatively stable.
  2. Number of Applicants: Over 1.2 lakh students typically appear. An increase in candidates usually makes the rank competition tougher.
  3. Choice of Specialization: There is a massive “IT-branch” push. Ranks for CSE and AIML are getting tighter every year, while core branches like Mechanical and Civil are seeing lower cutoffs (higher ranks).
  4. Counseling Rounds: Cutoffs usually “relax” by 10–20% by the time Round 3 concludes.

Note on Category: Unlike KCET, COMEDK is an All-India exam. Most seats are under the General Merit (GM) category. However, there are specific quotas for Karnataka Religious/Linguistic Minority and HKR (Hyderabad-Karnataka Region) candidates which have significantly higher (relaxed) cutoffs.
