Department of Computer Applications

Computer Applications is one of the thrust areas in science and technology. In appreciation to its growing importance in business and visualizing the career prospects, the University established the Department of Computer Applications (DCA) to facilitate research and human resource development in the subject.

The M.C.A. programme was started with the financial support and a model curriculum prepared jointly by the UGC and the Department of Electronics, Govt. of India with minor modifications. The syllabus is updated periodically based on the latest trends and requirement of the industry. The Department has a proud alumnus, most of them being placed in much reputed international firms like IBM, HP, WIPRO, INFOSYS, TCS, CTS, etc.

The Research activities of the Department include the subject areas Fuzzy sets, Logic Applications in Artificial Intelligence, Simulation, Cryptography & Coding Theory, Algorithm, Pattern Recognition, Multimedia, Graph Theory and its applications, Image Processing, Data Mining, Networking and Software Engineering. The Department is also doing consultancy work for public and private sector undertakings.

The Department has an excellent library with more than 6000 books and various National, International and Online Journals.

The Department has a well-equipped laboratory which is being constantly updated with the latest computers. At present the laboratory is equipped with 105 computers with 24 hour internet access through a dedicated link to the campus network. The Department has a placement cell managed by the students and actively assisted by the faculty members. Each year majority of the pass out students are absorbed by major IT companies all over the world.
