The college was established under article 29 & 30(1) of Indian Constitution. It was mainly aimed at meeting the needs of the minorities of entire northern region of the country, where the total population of the Minority (Muslim) is about to six million., The Dr. S. M. Naqui Inam Dental College & Hospital (SMIDCH), Darbhanga has been working with the chief goal of rendering Dental services to the Muslim masses of Bihar. It is also working to provide training to the Muslim students about the modern Dental Technologies. The college has three different buildings within its premises that are housing the academy side and Administration side, the Medical and Dental door and also different Dental Clinical Depts. The buildings also house one 100-beded hospital, Girls Hostel and also the Boys hostel. A panel of highly qualified and experienced teachers are imparting knowledge to the students in all the departments, in Dr. S. M. Naqui Inam Dental College & Hospital (SMIDCH), Darbhanga. The departments are well equipped with all necessary and modern teaching aids according to the norms of Dental Council of India (DCI). Apart from the regular faculty members, a few guest faculties from outside also visit the college and deliver lectures on concerned subjects from time to time.
