Our Mission:

To promote language and impart deeper knowledge and understanding of Persian Language & Literature, as the enormous size of original scriptural material of Indian History of the subcontinent is almost in Persian. It is saddening to observe that scholar of history who also posses a good knowledge of classical Persian are fast disappearing. There is a lack of scholarship that can directly read the original Persian source material & due to lack of proficiency in Persian. Hence our objective is to light the candle of this Language and promote it throughout the country.

Apart from education of classical Persian Language & literature , training in Modern Persian Language and Literature is also being imparted to students to equip the student and scholars with Language skills that will enable themselves to grab opportunities in current job market such as journalism and media, tourism, think-tanks and others.

Our Vision:
To develop the department into model centre of excellence for Studies in Persian Language & Literature.
