Vidya Bharati College the pride of Kamrup R District is established amidst different hurdles in 1990. Since then the college has been growing successfully. The college is permanently affiliated to the University of Gauhati during 2003-04 sessions and govt Concurrence was accorded in 2005 wef the session 1997-98. In its quest for glory, college is indebted to numerous individuals and institutions. The college authorities gratefully acknowledges its gratitude to all those who have extended their help in taking this institution to its present stature.

The college is proud to have a main building with a big playground with an extension of an administrative corner. As a little distance towards south, a sports complex and a womens hostel are constructed. There are 9 Departments in Arts stream in the college. Following the directives of Gauhati University the college has introduced Semester System from the year 2011 in its Degree course. From this year ie, on and from 2019-20 session, The college has introduced CBCS in Degree courses. It is a matter of pride that within a very short span of time Vidya Bharati College has blossomed to fragrance and establishes itself as a premier institution of higher education.
