Dr. Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education which was initially known as Hailakandi B.Ed. College was established in the year 1996. Prof. J.B. Bhattacharjee, 1st Vice-Chancellor of Assam University Silchar inaugurated the college on 15th July/1996 in presence of by Sri Sahidul Alom Choudhury, the then P. & R.D. Minister, Govt. of Assam. The Thrust for the formation of the college was the zeal to work for the betterment of the society through the training of teachers for professional preparation as well as through various welfare activities. A trust in the name and style as 'Foundation for Education and Social Welfare Hailakandi, Assam' was formed to run and manage the college as well as to do welfare activities., When we started our academic session we had face lot of troubles in the path of growth and development of the college. We had the confidence with us and we kept on moving set aside all those obstacles and ultimately got the status of its present form of Dr. Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education. It is the result of 18 years of growth and experience. During this course of time our college has been visited by distinguished personalities and educationists.
