Pithubar Girls’ Degree College was established on the 9th August 1989. The college has been offered Arts (B.A.) courses to provide higher education facilities to the poor, backward and tea garden students of the society. The College is affiliated to the Dibrugarh University and recognised under 2(f) of UGC in 2010., Pithubar Girls’ Degree college is situated in the centre of Moran legislative constituency Dibrugarh at Khowang Chariali, , Ajarguri. The surrounding area of the college are tea garden area, tribal area, inhabitant of other and more backward classes.. The college is named after the tea cultivator Late Pithubar Saikia owner of Duliabam Tea Estate. In the earlier stage Late Pithubar Saikia donated a plot of land to the Pithubar College. At the time of establishment, the name of the institution was Pithubar Girls’ Educational Institution. But at the time of affiliation under Dibrugarh University, the name has changed as Pithubar Girls’ Degree College, Khowang., 'Pithubar Girls Degree College, Khowang is only a Girls' higher Educational Institution of Moran legislative Constituency. The College is situated in the centre of Khowang. It has been completing 25 years of glorious service to higher education in this year. A lot of dedicated teacher and employers have worked continuously to bring the college to its present prestigious position. The college has been played a leading role in the sphere of art, culture, game and local responsibility., The Pithubar Girls Degree college was established in 1989.The college is offered only arts course and provide Major course in English, Assamese, Pol. Science, Education, Sociology, History and Economics. The college has a good women football team and a good cultural environment. In the year 2015, in inter-college women football competition our college team won championship. Moreover, our students also able to show their good performance in Dibrugarh University Youth Festival 2015. The college has played a key role in academic upliftment of disadvantaged student in the region. Recently the college wanted to offer free admission to those students who were from below the poverty line. The passed out students returned not only academically and mentally satiated but also carried their activities in various field of art, Education, political affairs etc., Mission, “The mission of the Pithubar Girls’ Degree college, Khowang is to promote learning both the students and faculty to achieve excellence in education.”, Vission, Pithubar Girls’ Degree College is a rural based college and it has been contributing higher education to the rural, academically, socially and economically challenged student of Khowang and adjoining tea garden students. The college family have been trying its best to develop the necessary infrastructure in the college as per the need of the students. Certain basic facilities yet to be fulfilled in the college. The vision of the college is to provide quality education to the existing students.
