Anakapalli Merchants’ Association Lingamurthy College was established in the year 1953. The Merchants’ Association had ventured into this philanthropic work of starting a college to provide educational facilities for all secondary school leaving students of the town and nearby places. Dr.Lakkaraju Subba Rao, the then Commissioner of Andhra University granted permission to start the college. Sri S.Parthasarathi Naidu, an eminent educationalist, was the founder Principal. Sri T.Bhaskara Rao Naidu I.C.S. ( Retired) helped a lot to secure this vast campus of 42 acres. The College was started on 22-6-1953 in 7 thatched sheds - popularly called " Parnasalas" with 79 students and 11 staff members. Sri Vuppala Peda Venkata Ramanaih and Sri Thatikonda Nookayya Chetty were the founder President and Correspondent respectively. The name of the college was changed from A.M.A.College to A.M.A.L.College on 01-04-1955, to honour late SRI KORUKONDA LINGAMURTHY, the founder of Anakapalle Merchants’ Association. It was upgraded to a first grade college in 1956. P.G Courses in Commerce, Organic & Analytical Chemistry were introduced in 1973, 1999 & 2005 respectively. Over the years the strength of the college steadily increased.
