Admission Notices

    PRESENT SCENARIO
The most intense and complex problem of the day before the society and the country as a whole is unemployment amongst the young generation. There is not a single job opportunity left open before the young graduates and post-graduates but of traditional education and degree keeping aside the under graduates. The present industrial scenario is in a very bad shape and the industrial growth or development is almost nil. The specialized areas in medicine, engineering and management are highly competitive and almost saturated. Additionally there is illiteracy both in primary and adult education areas, lack of health and sanitation services, tremendous population pressure per sq. km., lack of awareness in living conditions and environment, so on and so forth. These factors are creating tremendous pressure on the normal life style for all of us in the society and consequently evokes social unrest along with antisocial, activities. The young generation indulge themselves in cheap and arrogant entertainment out of despair.

    ENDEAVOUR TO A SOLUTION
At this stage of desperation, institute of Mass Communication Film and Television Studies, a non-Government organisation, registered under West Bengal Societies Registration Act., XXVI of 1961, has been formed by a group of veteran and experienced professionals from the field of education, social work and audio-visual media affiliated to the University of Kalyani to impart one year post graduate vocational diploma courses on Mass Communication Film and Television Studies and 3 yrs. Under Graduate Hons. course in Media Studies. Both the courses comprise of Journalism (print & electronic), Mass Communication, Public Relations, Audio-Visual Communication and other allied subjects.

    IMPLEMENTATION
The University can conduct these courses, off-campus, at Kolkata in collaboration with the Institute who has the Core competency to conduct these courses. The admission process and running the courses will be conducted by the Institute and examination process will be under the University. The Institute will provide the guest faculty to conduct the courses on the approved syllabus and will impart hands-on training as per the course curriculum and syllabus.
Moreover, the Institute strategically has formulated a project to open employment and self-employment oppurtunities in the field of media in under graduate and post graduate levels. To help the downtrodden grass-root young generation who are suffering from despair due to the present situation of un-employment, hunger and social neglect.
This project has been conceived and developed by the Hon. Secretary of the Society who has vast experience in the field of audio-visual medium for last two decades. Today no body can deny the role of television and the impact of the electronic medium in the daily life of people good or bad, urban or rural. This electronic medium has invaded our homes irrespective of literate or illiterate, rich or poor, male or female, young or old. Hence, this medium can be the strongest tool to spread awareness by way of televising information based entertainment programs on various topics from necessity of literacy, improvement of living conditions to development of environment and to impart education through distance learning programs in the rural and urban sectors. To generate these infotainment programs we require trained creative minds with technical know-how and there is dearth of personnel in this area when the media, specially the electronic medium, is expanding in a rapid pace connecting the world with limited program content.
Since there is no regular training courses except two or three under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, the young generation thriving to enter in the media world is not getting any entry due to inadequate vocational training centres to qualify themselves both in administrative and creative sectors of media. The print and electronic media are severely suffering, specially the satellite television broadcasters are satisfied with bureaucrats and half-baked creative brains to run their channels where IMCFTS steps in.
