Saroj Mohan Institute of Technology SMIT was established in 2003 with a vision to provide well-rounded technical education to students from all over the country. SMIT is currently operating as a joint venture with the Techno India Group TIG.

The engineering degree institution is approved by AICTE, Directorate of Technical Education DTE and affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology MAKAUT and offering regular courses in various engineering disciplines. The diploma engineering division is also approved by AICTE and affiliated to WBSCTE. Students at SMIT come from diverse cultures and backgrounds and have been placed in prestigious organizations in various sectors such as IT, infrastructure and Consulting.

Vision
The institution is to provide world class technical education to students. The idea is to make SMIT a hub for skill development by strengthening ties with various industries and not just be limited to being a degree giving institution.

Mission
Here learning is beyond the classroom; students are ushered to gain knowledge through live projects, workshops and seminars. The aim is to align engineering education with the current industry needs which necessitates breaking away from the stereotypical theoretical learning and moving to practical hands on training.
