The only college meant for imparting Women's Education in the District of Dakshin Dianjpur 'BALURGHAT MAHILA MAHAVIDYALAYA' was founded on 12th August. 1970, thanks, to the honest initiatives of Educationists and local people. Mention must be made of the Late Dr. Atul Cnandra Chakraborty, the Late Nilkanta Bagchi, the late Satindra Nath Basu, the late Kamalendu Chakraborty, the Late Bomkesh Chakraborty, me Late Dhirendra Nath Banerjee and the Late Nishith Ranjan Acharya etc! he college could not come into being without the active co-operation of District and State Administration. The then District Magistrates, Mr. Jaladmdu Misra, I.A.S. and Mr. Satyendra Nath Ghosh, I.A.S. and S.D.O. (Sadar) Mr Nirmal Sen and moreover Mr. J.C. Sengupta the then Education Secretary, Govt. of West Bengal extended their helping hand.
