About SSDPC Girls PG College, Roorkee

Shri Sanatan Dharm Rakshini Sabha, Roorkee being aware of significance of education initiated facilities for girls education at school level in 1940. Later in 1966, it was successful in starting higher education for girls and thus benefiting society in the form of S.S.D.P.C. Girls P.G. College, Roorkee with faculty of arts with subjects Hindi, English, Political Science, Sanskrit, Sociology, Economics, Drawing & Painting. Latest developments in higher education scenario of country were realized time to time and hence undergraduate course in faculty of science was started in 1998. Postgraduate courses in political science and drawing & painting have also come into existence since 2006 and hence the name S.S.D.P.C. Girls P.G. College, Roorkee.

Sanatan Dharm Sabhayen are playing vital role in the field of education in Northern India. Sri Sanatan Dharm Rakshini Sabha, Roorkee too had started two co-educational Primary Schools in 1940. The School opened purely for women’s education is known as Shri Sanatan Dharm Prakash Chand Girls Inter College, Roorkee. The management committee of S.S.D.P.C. Girls Inter College, Roorkee passed a resolution for opening a girl’s degree college at Roorkee in order to promote higher education among girls in 1965 and in 1966 the degree college came into existence.

Vision
S.S.D.P.C. Girls P.G. College, Roorkee was founded by Sanatan Dharm Rakshini Sabha, Roorkee for learning of knowledge spread of cultural values and motivating young generation for self expression together with discipline. College is focused on female section of society which being first teacher of a child can very well contribute in achieving goals of education at society and country level.
