The Institute Of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) is one of the three institutes of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India. The Institute of Medical Sciences is the medical school of the university. Like other institutions forming BHU, it is residential and co-educational. It admits undergraduate (MBBS) students through the highly selective BHU-PMT entrance examination conducted by BHU in cities across India. The B.Sc. (Nursing), BDS, MDS, MD/MS, DM/M.Ch, BAMS, MD.(Ay)/MS(Ay) and Ph.D students are selected through national entrance tests held by BHU in Varanasi. The M.Sc. (Health Statistics) students are admitted through a common post-graduate entrance test, similarly conducted across India. Tt has been consistently ranked amongst the top 20 Medical Colleges of the country and in 2012 was rated as the 6th Best Medical College. The Institute is a unique amalgamation of Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Ayurveda, Faculty of Dental Sciences and the College of Nursing all under one roof.
