It was taken over by the state government . It was started with arts and commerce. The college got UGC recognition under 2f & 12 b in the Feb. 1988. in the year 1991-92 government college Mahoba known as Veerbhumi Govt. college Mahoba after a notification issued by the governor of U.P., four Lecture rooms and administration block were constructed during 1989 to 1990 & 1995-96 with the help of Govt. grant. Graduation in science and P.G.in Commerce were started in 1996-97 and P.G. in Economics, Hindi and Political science has been started since 2001–2002. Now the college has been named and Known as Veerbhumi Govt. P.G. College, Mahoba. Affiliated to Bundelkhand University, Jhansi.

It is most popular institution among affiliated colleges of Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. It is also recognized as research center in commerce and hindi by the Bundelkhand, university, Jhansi. The provisions of some extra curricular activities are also available here to promote the multidimensional mental and physical development of student. Two units of national service scheme are also sanction here from the very beginning. Rovers and rangers unit is also available here instead of these departments and sports boards are also executing various promotional and cultural programmes. There is a team of learned teachers and non-teaching staff here. The results of various courses are 80-100% from many years for the physical development of students. Various sports facilities and equipments are also available in the college. It is one of the best institutions in field of studies and multidimensional growth of students.
