Shivlok Mahila Mahavidyalaya has been founded by Chaudhary Harmohan Singh, Ex. Member of Parliament to provide higher education to girls of Kanpur South in his birth place Meharban Singh Ka Purwa. President of India has awarded Shaurya Chakra to founder of this college. Swami Lokeshanand Maharaj, Mahamandleshwar also helped him to establish this college. His son Chaudhary Shukhram Singh, Chairman, Legislative Council of Uttar Pradesh has expanded this college in all respects with helps of so many legislators to build sufficient infrastructure and government of Uttar Pradesh also helped in construction of the building.
