Postal Staff College was established in the year 1977,
The Postal Staff College, India was set up on 27th September, 1977 to meet the training and development need of the managerial cadres of Postal and Accounts and Financial Wings of the Department, to provide leadership in the vocational training of the operative cadres through regional training centres, to undertake research in spheres of management of postal systems, and to build a postal data bank and documentation centre. The College imparts induction training to probationers of Indian Postal Service (Group 'A') & officers promoted to Postal Superintendents Group 'B' cadre. The College also organizes workshops and management and professional programmes for in-service officers and foreign delegates.
This was necessary as adequate accommodation was required to enable it to carry out its functions properly and in line with the policy of the Government for decentralization of institutions to decongest the city of Delhi. The new campus is a sprawling compound of more than 16 acres and is located adjacent to the Advanced Level Telecom Training Centre (ALTTC) in the Government of India Offices Complex, Ghaziabad. The college shifted to its present location in Ghaziabad in April 1990 from Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi.
Faculty And Administration
The College has a core faculty of eight officers who provide the basic teaching support for the induction tranining courses. Practicing managers, university professors and trainers of other training institutions who are the visiting faculty of the College. The apex of the college is the Director who is of the rank of Additional Secretary to the Government of India. He is supported by an Additional Director in the Senior Administrative Grade, three Joint Directors in Junior Administrative Grade, one Deputy Director (Accounts), one Internal Financial Adviser and two Assistant Directors. There is a small supporting staff consisting of two Senior Personal Assistants, Librarian, Caretaker, Cashier, a few clerical officials, Stenographers and Group D officials.
