Institute of Management Technology (IMT) in Ghaziabad has been keeping the flag flying high in providing quality business graduates and technology professionals, which the country requires at this point of time. A unique feature of exposing student managers to international marketing and derivative trading by means of a month long orientation in a Southeast Asian country has been incorporated this year. PGDBM (PG Diploma in Business Management)
The Institute’s PGDBM Programme is committed to provide the learning and application of skills at a global plane. The students undergo the programme to develop : a global vision and understanding
an ability to act strategically at both the local and global levels, interpersonal and multicultural teamwork competencies, an understanding of the latest technologies, capability to anticipate and manage change. conceptual and analytical competencies, breadth of knowledge in various functional areas, communication and presentation competencies, a commitment to ethical and legal business practices, practical business experience. ability to take decisions, under risk & uncertainty.
A variety of learning tools are used for acquisition of knowledge and skills. Role-play, case study, project-work, field experience, assignment, quiz, seminars, industry visits etc. are some of the methods used. Students are encouraged to develop analytical, judgement and presentation skill through writing and publication of articles, features and presentation, at various forums including leading national dailies and journals and in-house publications, workshops and seminars.
Summer Training and Projects
Apart from other tools of learning, one way of learning business is by action & participation in research. Each student is required to undergo an eight-week summer training at leading corporations to undertake a project of direct relevance to the concerned organisation. Subsequently, a presentation on the project and a viva-voce before a panel of experts is held.
Specialisation in Business strategy, Marketing, Finance, HRD, Operations and Systems are offered as inputs for functional learning. Students are also permitted to have cross functional skills through dual specialization.
Basics of all functional areas like Marketing, Finance, HRD, Operations and Systems are included. Courses in managerial economics and economic environment of business provide an awareness of the business and its economics environment at global, national and industry levels. International business helps students acquire international perspective in decision making. Business ethics and environment management represents the concern of business towards society. Courses in strategy inclusive of business process re-engineering integrate the application of knowledge across functions at the action stage in a business organization. Each student has to choose one or two functional areas of specialization and take optional courses. These optional courses provide inputs as tools and techniques in respective sphere of activity. The courses are covered with a futuristic view of business and incorporate long term needs of industry in technological, managerial and decision-making skills.
PGDCA (PG Diploma in Computer Application) Information Technology is growing rapidly. Increasing applications of computers in almost all areas of human endeavour has led to a vibrant industry with concurrent rapid change in technology. Thus the challenge in designing a curriculum is to identify the areas of core competence which is reasonably stable and provide sufficient number of elective and laboratories to accommodate changes. The curriculum has been finalised after consultation with software industry and following the guidelines of expert committee constituted by All India Board of Computer Science, Engineering and Applications of AICTE. Thus the curriculum has a strong laboratory and project orientation in which the use of new tools will be emphasised. Most courses will have an associated laboratory and with the latest software tools. The Table below shows the subjects to be studied in each semester and the order in which the subjects are to be taken.
PGDEM (PG Diploma in Executive Management)
Fifteen Month Full Time Executive MBA Programme After a thorough analysis of the market demand in the lateral placement market the PGDEM course has been restructured with focus on International Marketing (South Asian Marketing Challenges) and International Finance (Derivative Market). Student executives will be provided adequate system exposure in addition.There is effort to run two elective courses outside India (preferably in Singapore & Malaysia) to give a feel of the South Asian market. That apart 2/3 foreign professors from institutes of international repute are also expected to run courses in the executive management.
Bachelors Degree in any discipline. Middle level executive executives from government, PSU's, private sector including family owned enterprises with minimum of five years work experience preferably three years experience at a managerial.
PGDBM P/T The programme has been specially designed for the working executives who have inclination for a professional degree but are unable to spare their full time for a regular MBA programme. The executives come from all areas of business to correlate and strengthen their practical know-how with theoretical inputs. The duration of the programme is three years. The coverage and content of this programme is completely synchronous with the Full time programme in management.
