The N.R.I.P.T., Prayagraj came into existence in 1957. It is a premier institute that provides technocrats to the printing industry located in northern region, comprising states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Harayana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi and the union territory of Chandigarh . The institute is under the administration of Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Department of Technical Education.

Prayagraj is a city of paradox. Since time immemorial, the city has been famous as a great centre of learning as well as a hub of religion. While the former has its connection with reason, the other is associated with faith. This has created not only a remarkable balance in the growth of the city, but has also prevented it from turning into a soul-less concrete jungle.

Northern Regional Institute of Printing Technology (NRIPT) is situated at Prayagraj - Lucknow highway at Teliarganj about 8 KM. from Prayagraj Jn. Railway station and 4 KM from Prayag railway station in a sprawling campus of about 22 acres.
