Arya Kanya Degree College, Allahabad was established in the year 1975.Principal of this college is Dr. Rita Purwar. This college is at present under the affiliation of Allahabad University. It aimed at providing higher education to the women students of this area so that the women empowerment and upliftment of women could become a reality. The College further aimed at providing value education and Indian culture to its students. The aims and objectives of the College are based on the Vedic principles as propounded by Swami Dayanand Sarswati. The College is located in the heart of the city of Allahabad where students belonging to all walks of life including lower middle classes as well as minority communities also receive education. The College is spread over an area of 0.53 acres of land in the city of Allahabad. It is a single faculty College catering to the Faculty of Arts only. Allahabad, being a holy city, reflects the spiritual climate in the College also. There is a confluence of the Ganges and the Yamuna at Allahabad and, it is said, that invisible river Sarswati also merges here. The Kumbh Mela, which is held every twelve years, adds to the grandeur of the sangam as millions of devotees throng to this place for a holy dip. The College is affiliated to the University of Allahabad, Allahabad. It stands recognized by the UGC under 2(f) since 20.8.81 and it is also listed in 12B of the U.G.C. act. It is a grant-in-aid College. Presently, 1817 students are on the rolls of this College. The unit cost of education per student is Rs. 6,885/-.

Arya Kanya Degree College, Allahabad volunteered to be assessed by the
National Assessment and Accreditation Council by submitting its self-study report. National Assessment and Accreditation Council constituted an Expert Committee to visit the College and validate its report. The Peer Team comprises of Dr. H.S. Soch, Former Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, as Chairperson, Prof. J.P. Pachauri, Head Deptt. of Sociology, Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar, Garhwal, as Member and Dr. (Mrs) K.K. Tandon, Former Deputy Director (Colleges), Govt. of Haryana, Chandigarh, as Member Co-ordinator. The peer team visited the institution for two days from 28th to 29th January, 2005. Dr. Latha Pillai, Adviser, NAAC monitored the visit of Peer Team successfully. The Peer Team carefully perused and analyzed the self-study report submitted by the institution. During the actual visit, Peer Team went through the relevant documents, visited the departments and interacted with the various constituents of the institution. The academic, co-curricular, extra-curricular, sports and other activities of the institution were looked into. The Peer Team interacted at length with the Principal, the faculty, students, non-teaching staff, parents and alumni of the institution.
