Department of English
Established in 1954 and recognized both within and outside India for its contribution to English Language and Literature, the Department of English is not only one of the oldest and experienced departments in the University of Kashmir but the most ambitious and enthusiastic one too. We in the department are compulsive teachers obsessed with teaching and learning as we believe that good teaching results in good learning for students of all abilities. We also believe that the maintenance of good standards is essential for our students to have the ability to progress to national level and beyond. The efforts and the commitment of the department towards quality education can be gauged from the fact that our students have qualified NET and SLET. The department has excellent placement records of students absorbed in well reputed educational institutions. In order to improve quality and uphold standards, the department has resorted to the process of peer review system for evaluation of manuscripts submitted for publication in the departmental journal. The department has now a refereed journal with an International Standard Serial Number.
