Department of Communication
The Department of Communication, located within the prestigious Sarojini Naidu School Arts & Communication, has evolved over the last 20 years of its existence, into one of the leading institutions of higher learning in the field of communication and media studies in India. With faculty trained in nationally and internationally reputed institutions and well-equipped studios and laboratories, the department provides students balanced inputs in both theory and practice of mass communication. Filmmakers, video professionals, journalists, corporate communication specialists, and leading scholars from India and abroad constitute a panel of eminent visiting faculty, who offer value addition to the training being given to the students.
The department offers a two-year M.A Communication. Students who join the programme can specialize in one of the three streams of specialization:
a) Radio & Television
b) Print Journalism & New Media
c) Communication & Media Studies
The department also offers a Ph.D programme that is open to all MA (Mass Communication & Journalism, Communication & MCJ) graduates with NET (JRF) qualification. The students are required to stay on the campus and complete their research within five years. The part-time Ph.D programme is open to all MA (Mass Communication & Journalism, Communication & MCJ) graduates who are residents of Hyderabad/Secunderabad only.
