At a time when the departments of Arabic and Persian at Lucknow University are already getting a very few students, the Mayawati government’s focus is spending Rs 17.10 crore on creating a new university — the Manyavar Sri Kanshi Ram Ji Urdu, Arabi-Farsi University (MKUAFU).
The new university, with courses in Arabic and Persian, will further aggravate the plight of these departments in Lucknow University as the number of students is already less, believes Arif Ayyubi, head of Persian department at LU.
