Despite the commendable history and glorious tradition, the common people of this midland remained outside the domain of modern higher education till 1965. With the pioneering and persistant efforts of Late Sri.K.V.Narayan Reddy, the then M.L.A. and former Minister in Andhra Pradesh cabinet, the long cherished dreams of the people became reality. Thus Adarsha Arts, Commerce & Science College, Jammikunta, the third college in our district, was established in 1965 under private management. That was the humble beginning of our college with a great vision and mission to impart higher education to the economically backward region and to transform it into a knowledge society. The College came into existence in 20 acres of land provided by Late. Sri. Erramraju. Krishnam Raju,the then Sarpanch of Jammikunta from Gram-Panchayat. The college was taken over by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1982. Later it has got permanent affiliation from Kakatiya University, Warangal and permanent recognition under section 2(f) and 12(b) of UGC act.
The college switched over to 10+2+3 system of education and Telugu as medium of instruction in 1970, as per the policy of the state government. In 1996, the Government of Andhra Pradesh bifurcated the college into two separate colleges side by side – Government Junior College, Jammikunta and Government Degree College, Jammikunta.
The college when started in 1965 had only 4 groups with only 300 students. In recent years the college has introduced restructured courses with new departments such as computers, microbiology as per the needs of changing times. At present the college has 8 groups with 951 students. Even today this college is continuing its services for the students of entire Jammikunta Mandal people and its surrounding Mandal people. The college has moulded the minds of innumerable minds of young men and women over the years. It has produced a large number of academicians, administrators, scientists, politicians and experts in various fields. The J.K.C has become an important branch of learning in this college.
