St Anns College for Women was established in the year 1983,
St. Ann's College for Women was established by the Sisters, Society of St. Ann, in 1983, as an institution oriented towards the cause of need-based education, aiming at optimum growth. Their vision and single-minded dedication saw the college evolve from a humble beginning with just two courses, to a model college with all possible conventional and restructured courses, added year after year at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Ever since its inception the college has the distinction of excelling in academics and extra-curricular activities. It has, within a short span of time, acquired a reputation as being one of the best colleges in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. At present, the college has strength of about 3000 students and 100 well - qualified staff members, belonging to as many as 28 different departments. The faculty at St. Ann's is its most valuable resource, that brings with it an incomparable set of skills and knowledge. The faculty boasts of varied backgrounds in terms of specialization and experience. The academic, social and spiritual elements of St. Ann's college education combine to offer the students many windows of opportunity.
In a world where knowledege and talent count so heavily, it is people- faculty, students and staff and their committment to the cause of education-that matter most to the quality of a vital educational institution.
One of St.Ann's great strengths as a forward looking institution is its unequivocal committment to collegiate education which remained unswearing right from the year of its inception in 1983. Since then as a result of its careful planing and hardwork the progress has been consistent the growth has been continual and expansion phenomenal. The institution has almost become a commonwealth of higher education with all possible groups and combinations needed at under-graduate level.
Encouraged its success the institution met an important and significant challenge in 1991 by accepting autonomy and faithfully conforming to its ideals and demands. As it is well affirmed communities of learning, the world over, should be our best bet for pioneering creative routes into tomorrow. Accordingly we have restructured our curriculum in a purposeful way and sincerely worked for its effective implementation. This is a forward mission that St.Ann's embraced with the true spirit of innovation and conscience.

The Library of St.Ann's can be best described as a growing and developing library. Ever since the inception of this college one of our main aims has been to build up its library. The fact that today it caters to more than 1500 undergraduate and Post-graduate students along with more than 120 staff members, shows that our efforts have largely been successful.
Each year at St.Ann's has brought introduction of new courses and increase in the number of staff and students. Consequently each year for the Library has brought new demands and challenges which we have tried to meet. This report while briefly describing the existing facilities, also outlines some of our plans for the future.
Located in a corner of the first floor of our main builing the library occupies 72 ft. x 50 ft. of airy and well-lighteed space. With books stacked in row upon row on steel shelves and reading space clearly indicated by comfortable and well-maintained furnitures the library gives the impression of discipline, order and openness. The first thing that strikes one who enters the library is the high degree of professionalism and commitment among its stafdf. The librarian and her staff monitor theactivities of the users in a such a way that even though every user has open access to the stacks and around hundred people use the library at a time, instances of misuse and indiscipline are rare. Moreover queries and doubts of the users are immediately attended to and suggestions from the readers are incorporated as far as practicable.
