      About Dr NTR University of Health Sciences

      The University is the brain child of Padmashree Dr. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao a legendary figure and Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. It was inaugurated in 1986.The first chancellor of the university was none other than Late Dr. N.T.Ramarao . Presently, the Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh is the Chancellor. It is a state university established with act NO .6 of Andhra Pradesh Legislative assembly in 1986 . This Act may be called the AP University of Health Sciences Act, 1986. The name of the University of Health Sciences Act, 1986 was amended as “NTR University of Health Sciences AP Act, 1986” vide Act No.4 of 1998. The Change of the name came into effect from 2nd February, 1998 as notified vide G.O.Ms.No.24, dt. 24-1-98.)The name NTR University of Health Sciences substituted as Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences vide AP Gazette copy dt.16-01-2006.
