About JNTU College of Fine Arts

The college was originally started as a School of Arts and crafts by the then Government of the Nizam of Hyderabad in the erstwhile Hyderabad state in the year 1940. Later, it was brought under the Department of Technical Education of the Government of Andhra Pradesh as the Government College of Fine Arts and Architecture. With the establishment of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University In 1972, it was made a constituent College of the University. With the bifurcation of the Architecture faculty into a separate School of Planning and Architecture in 1990, it became the JNTU college of Fine Arts.

The Principal of the College is the academic and administrative head and directly reports to the Vice-Chancellor of the University. To carry out the academic functions, the Principal is supported by the College Academic Committee and to carry out the administrative functions, he is supported by an Administrative Wing headed by an Assistant Registrar. The activities of the College are basically supported by a budgetary allocation from the University funds.

The industrial Consultancy Service Unit of the College is very active in offering the expertise of the staff in the fields of Audio-visual communication, field publicity, display material and other public relation programmes of various Government agencies. The college has an adequately equipped library to meet the demands of various departments in the subjects of Fine Arts. The college has a boys hostel with a capacity of about 200. The other facilities include an Art Gallery, indoor Games facilities and NSS.
