Indian Institute of Information Technology, Srirangam (IIITS) is one among the 20 IIITs proposed under Non-profit Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model by MHRD. IIITS is an academic and research Institute fully funded by Govt. of India, Govt. of Tamil Nadu and Industry partners such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS), Infosys, Ramco Systems, ELCOT, Navitas (Take Solutions). IIIT Srirangam is operating in the temporary campus within the premises of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Campus, Tiruchirappalli – 620 015, Tamil Nadu, since March 2016. NIT Tiruchirappalli is the Mentor institution for IIIT Srirangam that provides academic and administrative support to the IIIT. In future, the permanent campus will be built at Sethurappatti Village, Srirangam Taluk, Tiruchirappalli District.

IIITS is offering three PG courses namely, M.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering, M.Tech. Database Systems, and M.Tech. Software Engineering from the academic year 2013-2014 with the intake of 20 students in each of the courses. The admission for PG Courses is based only on GATE and is through Centralized Counselling for M.Tech. Admissions (CCMT 2016). The classes and industrial training for the above courses are handled by faculty members from IIITS, experts from TCS, CTS, Infosys, Ramco Systems, ELCOT, Navitas (Take Solutions), HP, Polaris, and Orzota (Big data analytics group) and resource persons from reputed institutes such as IIM, NIT, BIM, IIT, and IIITDM.
