The then Chief minister of Madras, Shri K.Kamaraj, inaugurated the Polytechnic lighting the kuthuvilakku.The polytechnic is managed by the India Cements Educational Trust, Chennai. It is a State-Government-Aided institution since inception. It is a co-educational institution. The medium of instruction is English. It offers three-year full-time Diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, EEE, ECE and Computer Engineering.
