When this college was started on 1972 there were only 3 UG programme was commenced both Tamil and English Medium. On 1972 in the construction of the college was not fully computed due to the college was running in different place., The college foundation was inaugurated on 12 th March 1972 by honorable Governor Mr. K. K. Shaw. First the college constructed by Salem District Financial Committee with the Rs. 5 lakhs at the foot hill of Vadachennimalai, Attur taluk. On the time the area of college was 22 hectare diameter. The new building inaugurated by honorable Defense Minister Mr. Jagajeevan Ram on 23 rd October 1973. The first undergraduate programme B.A Tamil was commenced on 1973,so the college promoted to first grade college on 1976 new undergraduate science and history programmes also introduced, On 1975 onwards the college converted into co-educated so the girls student also benefited by this facilities., 1999 - 2000 onwards up to 2004 - 2005 the B.Sc Physics programme was converted into the Applied Computer Science Physics. The new two floor building was innogurated by honorable Educational Minister K. Anbazhagan on 1999 - 2000. The new building was constructed with Rs. 52 lakhs. So the college got a new architectural appearance. On 2003 - 2004 the new self-finance courses which are B.A English, BBA, M.Com, M.Sc Computer Science introduced, On 2004 - 2005 the Post Graduate Programmes M.A Tamil & M.A History also introduced. So totally this college has 9 UG courses and 4 PG courses.
