Sakthi Polytechnic College, has been sponsored by the Sakthi foundation as one of its developmental programmes. The main aim of this institution is to impart technical education among the rural youths. Padma Bhushan Dr.N. Mahalingam,the famous industrialist and educationalist is the promoter and president of the foundation. Sakthi polytechnic college started functioning in September 1981. Initially three year Government Aided Diploma courses were offered in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Courses on Electronics and Communication Engineering and Metallurgy are offered from 1984-85. The course on Agricultural Technology is offered from 1985-86.The self-supporting courses were also started subsquently. Computer Engineering course is offered from 2002-2003, Instrumentation and Control Engineering from 2003-2004 and Mechanical Engineering is offered from 2010-2011. It is a matter of pride that Sakthi polytechnic college was the first institution in this area to offer conventional Diploma Courses. The institution is managed by a Governing Council with Dr M.MANICKAM Excecutive as Chairman. Representatives and experts from the fields of education and industry form the members of the Council. The institution has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE)., The institution is located in an extensive area of 102 acres at Appakudal, Nachimuthupuram on Bhavani-Sathyamangalam Road. This institution has opened up avenues of higher education and employment opportunities in all over the state.It has also gone a long way in fulfilling the dreams and needs of the people of Tamilnadu at Erode District in the field of Technical Education. It is a ISO 9001-2008 Certified Institution for Quality since 2006.
