    Madras School of Social Work, established in 1952, is located in Chennai, South India, and is an autonomous college affiliated to the University of Madras. The School offers various under-graduate and graduate courses in social sciences. The Madras School of Social Work was founded by the well known Social Worker Mary Clubwala Jadhav and is run under the aegis of the Society for Social Education and Research, Chennai. The Madras School of Social Work is a member of the Association of Schools of Social Work in India and the Asian Pacific Association of Social Work Education. The School is also affiliated to the International Association of Schools of Social Work. Under the auspices of Madras State Branch of the Indian Conference of Social Work (renamed the Indian Council of Social Welfare) and the Guild of Service (Central). The College is run under the aegis of the Society for Social Education and Research formed in 1960. It is a member of the Association of Schools of Social Work in India and the Asian Pacific Association of Social Work Education and is also an affiliate of International Association of Schools of Social Work. The entire gamut of learning - conceptual, experimental and self-discovery, makes an MSSW post graduate to challenge the limits and to make a difference, positively. Learning in Campus Conceptual learning is through classes which are designed on the lines of lecture sessions, case studies and audio visual presentations, with regular inputs from functional specialists and working managers supplementing it. Experimental learning is through field work training. Rural camps helps the students form realistic perspectives on varied situations. Students have hands on experience in conceptualising, implementing and monitoring programmes at community level, counselling people in distress, helping individuals and families cope with illness, behaviour, understanding business processes and managing human resources. These form an integral part of our training module. Apart from regular classes, skill development classes are conducted using external training experts for all courses in accordance with specific needs of the employment market. Self development, Interpersonal effectiveness and other life skills as well as specific professional skills are developed through these training programmes. Campus interviews by selected employers are facilitated by the College for job placement of students. The students are also trained to face interviews. Participation in the campus interview at the College will be restricted to those students who have been regular in College and field work and have participated actively in the activities of the College and have secured above 60 % marks in their internal and external examinations in all the semesters.
