The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education came into existence in the year 1951. It was established under the act of the State Legislature called the West Bengal Secondary Education Act of 1950. On May 31, 1951, the Governor of West Bengal Dr. K.N. Katju inaugurated the WB Madhyamik Board. The Board regulates the secondary level education in the state by conducting the final examinations. Other than this, the board also prescribes the syllabus, textbooks to the schools affiliated with it. Previously, all these activities were done by the Calcutta University. During its entire life, the Board was superseded by the State Govt. twice. The journey was started with 1270 high schools then it was increased 2312 in the year 1963. Then the number was 8000 and presently, the WBBSE is handling around 10238 numbers of schools

West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education

The WB Board for class 12 was established under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, Act 1975. The abbreviation of the board as WBCHSE. The council works for 10+2 standard candidates. Its main office is situated at Salt Lake, Bidhannagar, Korunamoyee, Kolkata along with 4 regional offices. The board advises the State Government regarding the matters and rules related to the higher secondary in West Bengal state. The WB Board also prescribes the curriculum and syllabus to the affiliated schools and conducts the exams. After the completion of the board exams, the West Bengal Board also declares the result.

West Bengal Council of Rabindra Open Schooling

To provide distance learning to the students, the state has established the WB Rabindra Open Schooling. The State Open School came up as a wing of the School Education Department in 1997. The board was renamed the Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya (RMV) in the year 1998. Under the Act Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya, the WB Open board was effective from August 01, 2001.

The West Bengal Council of Rabindra Open Schooling manages to provide the syllabus to its students. Also, it conducts the exams and announces the result. The WB Open board conducts the board exams twice a year in the month of June and December.

WBBME Madrasah Board 

Along with the regular board exams for class 10th to 12th students, the West Bengal board also holds the responsibility of providing the education through Madrasah. West Bengal Madrasah provides the education in the courses High Madrasah, Alim and Fazil. Board conducts the exams of the courses by the month of February. All those students who appeared for the exams were provided with an admit card first. To collect it students need to visit their respective madrasahs. Along with this, the board also provide the result to all the qualified students online. 

Madrasah board has developed with the aim of providing education to all those students who wish to attain academic qualification along with their religious education. Thus, the subjects, textbooks and the syllabus of them are also different from the regular state board. 

West Bengal Board Time Table

The West Bengal Board releases the timetable for the 10th and 12th in the month of January. West Bengal Board conducts the board exams in the month of February and March for both classes. The practical exams use to be held in the month of January. The students obtain the date sheet online on the official website.

The timetable of the West Bengal Board contains the name of the board, the name of the exam, exam type, class name, the date of the exams, exam days, the timings for the exams, and some other useful information.

West Bengal Board Admit Card

The admit card posses the most important information related to the board exams and also regarding the student. This is mandatory that the student must have the admit card while appearing for the exams. On the admit card, the students get the details such as the name of the candidates, date of birth, roll number, enrollment number of the students, registration number, the board’s details, the name of the subjects, subject code, exams date, the days of the exams, timings for the exams, reporting time for the students, other important instructions.

West Bengal board results will be available for both classes i.e. 10th and 12th on the official website. In order to check the results, the candidates need to visit the official website and then the students should enter the details such as the roll number of the students. . It should be the same as available on the admit card.
