About Tapas
The ‘Tapas’ project, initiated in 2012, aims to support talented male students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing education from IIT JEE. Eligible applicants for this project are students currently studying in class 10, belonging to families with an annual income not exceeding 2 lakhs. The entrance exam for the scheme is held annually on December 25th at 40 different centers across the state. Approximately 40 students are selected through various screening processes to receive the benefits of the project. Selected students are provided with free accommodation, meals, tuition fees, study materials, and training for a period of two years. These facilities are available at the well-established infrastructure of labs, library, hostels, and college located at the Rastrotthana Campus in Banashankari.
The project operates in collaboration with the esteemed Base Institute, which offers high-quality study materials and question series in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to help students succeed in entrance exams for IIT JEE.
